Marginalization: What effect does marginalization have on society?

Marginalization: is defined by the researcher Dr Carol Schultz as the process whereby a person (or groups of people) are pushed to the edge of a group (or society) and accorded lesser importance. It is predominantly a social phenomenon in which minority or sub-groups are excluded and their needs and/or desires are ignored. (Macionis & Gerber, 2011)
